Skills for Care CEO Oonagh Smyth says:

Employers tell us the support offered through the Workforce Development Fund is key in the ongoing development of the social care workforce and confirmation that the fund will continue throughout 2022/23 provides welcome clarity to a sector which faces ongoing recruitment and retention challenges as our data shows there are an estimated 165,000 vacancies on any given day.

Supporting training for our highly skilled workforce is an important part of the answer to addressing this challenge, and we look forward to continuing to work with government and social care providers so their staff can access learning and development opportunities.

It’s now important to work in partnership with the sector so the new learning and development offer’s design, implementation and access enables providers and the workforce to effectively access support wherever they are in their career.
