Approval of new apprenticeships standards

The Lead Practitioner in Adult Care (level 4) and Leader in Adult Care (level 5) apprenticeship standards have both now been approved for delivery with the funding bands agreed at £7,000.

Helen Wilcox, Care Apprenticeship Board and Trailblazer Group Chair said, “I cannot thank the employers, training providers and Awarding Organisations enough for their hard work, commitment and dedication in creating standards that are rigorous, robust, high quality and fundamental in ensuring we maintain high standards of care delivery within the Adult Care Sector”.

The Lead Practitioner standard is designed for job titles such as Dementia Lead, Re-ablement Worker, Physiotherapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Public Health Associate Worker, Keeping in Contact Worker, Community Care/Support Officer, Social Care Assessor, Care Assessment Officer, Social Services Officer, Brokerage Worker, Rehabilitation and Reablement Assistant, Independence Support Assistant, Reablement Support Workers/Officer, Telecare Assistant and Assistive Technology Co-ordinator/Officer.

The Leader standard is designed for job titles such as Registered, Assistant, Deputy, Unit or Service Manager and is expected to be as popular as the existing Care Leadership and Management framework which had over 6,500 starts last year and will close on 31 July 2020.

It’s estimated that both will take around 18 months to complete including gaining the Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care or the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care before end-point assessment through Observation of Practice or Leadership and a Professional Discussion.

Once an end-point assessment organisation has committed to deliver assessment for the Lead Practitioner in Adult Care (level 4) , the apprenticeship standard will be available to employers and employees.
