As we continue to support LGBT History Month throughout February, we’ve rounded-up some of the resources available to support you with improving LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning) inclusivity in the workplace.
LGBTQ+ Learning Framework
This Learning Framework for working with LGBTQ+ people in later life aims to provide a base for identifying the insights, knowledge, understanding and skills that the social care workforce need to help them work effectively with individuals from gender and sexually diverse communities.
The framework is intended to be used by social care employers, employees, training providers, regulators, commissioners, policy makers and others to build their own knowledge of LGBTQ+ issues, to support colleagues' understanding, and to create learning programmes which will allow teams to better support LGBTQ+ people in later life.

New: LGBTQ+ Learning Framework Toolkit
This toolkit expands on the LGBTQ+ Learning Framework, offering additional guidance and practical learning activities for organisations looking to initiate or strengthen their commitment to LGBTQ+ affirmative care. It features best-practice examples from organisations actively working in this space, showcasing how engagement with the Learning Framework is driving meaningful change.
Designed to support organisations in demonstrating their commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion, the toolkit provides structured activities to help evidence how key services and operations meet the needs of LGBTQ+ people. Aligning activities with the Learning Framework can also support case audits, quality assurance exercises, and compliance with legal requirements during statutory regulation and inspections.

LGBTQ+ case studies
We have a series of case studies which highlight some of the impact the LGBTQ+ Learning Framework has had on the sector. The case studies cover a range of topics and demonstrate how care providers have utilised the framework to make positive changes within their services.

Confident with difference
Our ‘Confident with difference’ resource was developed to provide care services with the opportunity to consider how well they currently embrace diversity within their organisation. The resource consists of four short films and activities designed for managers and leaders to use with their teams to generate discussions and develop action plans.

Resources to help support personal relationships
This package of training materials can be used to develop the skills and knowledge needed to support people who draw on services with personal relationships. They were developed with Supported Loving and are intended to be used by social care training providers and in-house training departments of social care employers. The materials are supported by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and compliment their guidance around inspection in the area of relationships and sexuality in adult social care services.

Culturally Appropriate Care: Supporting relationships and people who are LGBTQ+
In this guide, learners will explore best practices for promoting sexual safety, supporting diverse sexualities, and understanding the barriers faced by LGBTQ+ communities. The guide also covers correct terminology, key acronyms, and equality rights in health and social care, with a focus on transgender inclusion.
