In this #GoodNewsFriday, we hear about a day of fun and activities from Spellman Care’s Springbank Care Home, as they hosted a ‘School’s out for summer’ activity day for residents and local children.
Spellman Care’s Springbank Care Home hosted two heartwarming "School’s Out for Summer" events, inviting local children to join their residents for a day of fun and friendship.
The events featured a variety of activities. Residents and children worked together to create arts and crafts, enjoyed games together and even made some delicious homemade treats. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy as residents and children bonded and enjoyed their day.
Intergenerational events are proven to have a positive impact on both residents and children. For residents, the interactions can provide a sense of purpose, reduce feelings of isolation, and improve mental and physical health. Children, in turn, can develop valuable social skills, empathy, and a greater understanding of the aging population.
