This #GoodNewsFriday, we hear how LDC Care has been celebrating Pride Month with the support of a local drag artist!

LDC Care have been celebrating Pride Month in style!

The joy of Pride is that alongside showing your support to the LGBTQ+ community it gives us a chance to embrace the core value of Pride, which is to be your most authentic self.

For people being supported, being their whole selves can be scary. This is especially true if they are also a part of the LGBTQ+ community. It can be difficult for them to express themselves and find a safe place to explore who they are. LDC Care wanted to make it as easy as possible and provide a haven for self-expression.

Last week they held their annual pride party, which was bigger and better than ever. The food truck was very popular, and the DJ had everyone dancing in the sunshine. They also had a balloon artist who made everything from love hearts to giraffes!

The body glitter artist made everyone sparkle and shine, everyone loved it even though glitter was found everywhere for the next 6 months!

To top it off a local drag artist, Dita Garbo, performed for the crowd. The people being supported by LDC Care loved her flamboyant outfits and her splits. She inspired some people to dress in drag themselves and one brave person even did their own lip sync to a Dolly Parton track.

The event saw supported people and staff dancing together and singing along with the music. They were joined by teams from across the organisation including, HR, maintenance, finance, admin and senior management. Director, Lara, and Lauren, LDC's head of care lead the way on the dance floor.

If Pride is about love, there was so much of it at our party. To share such joy and fun with those we support, and our staff teams was a privilege.
