In this Good News Friday, we hear a story of amazing resilience and strength from a registered nurse who overcame a tragic accident during the early stages of her career.
Chloe Austin, a qualified nurse at Risedale Estates, is an amazing example of resilience and determination. Having now completed her four-year apprenticeship, Chloe's journey to becoming a nurse has been anything but ordinary.
Known for her unwavering dedication and going the extra mile for the people she supported, Chloe was part way through her apprenticeship when an unfortunate accident changed her life.
While enjoying a day out at a fairground in Barrow-in-Furness, Chloe was involved in a traumatic ride accident that left her with life-changing injuries. She suffered over 30 broken bones, severe organ damage and was bed-bound for three months and placed in an induced coma for another three weeks. Doctors told her she may never walk again or become a parent.
However, Chloe’s story didn’t end there. Through sheer determination and the support of her family, colleagues, loved ones and medical staff, she defied the odds. Not only did she regain her ability to walk, but she has also become a mother, giving birth to a happy and healthy baby.
After her recovery, Chloe returned to her apprenticeship and successfully qualified as a nurse. Her colleagues continue to praise her compassion, describing her as someone who always went the extra mile to provide the best care for those around her. Today, Chloe is an inspiration at Risedale, standing for the the resilience and strength that make a difference in the lives of those she supports
